A Message from the IMDM President
It was an exciting 2008 for the International Movement of Development Managers or IMDM! The year 2009 promises to be even more motivating and fulfilling, now that the BIDA Program (Barangay Improvement and Development Action) – in partnership with the Lone District of Camarines Norte represented by the ever progressive Congresswoman Liwayway Vinzons-Chato – has taken its course!
Finally, IMDM found its niche in the fulfilment of its vision-mission.
For the last five years, IMDM has been part of various engagements and partnerships with different institutions including management case writing on best practices. Topics range from community organizing, community building, conflict management, governance, and population management and development.
In 2008, the BIDA Program was conceptualized and launched in Camarines Norte. BIDA is an innovative action program. It brings together barangay officials' local knowledge and technical expertise of governance practitioners from IMDM to develop responsive, value-adding and creative ways of addressing community needs. BIDA is a 12-month capacity building program where the participating barangay officials are given training and mentoring support to identify, develop and eventually execute their development projects.
The development problems of the world are daunting. There is a need to synergize efforts amongst us development managers and to step up if we want to win the right battles. Certainly, the creation of systematic approach will lead to viable solutions to issues and problems.
Let us walk hand in hand to support, encourage and inspire each other. Behind every successful program are the development leaders born to generate improvements and changes.
There is hope.
